Crisis at Chelsea

Jan. 8, 2023

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has come out guns blazing to defend himself from high profile criticism from the fans, the media and pundits. The Englishman has come out to defend himself after the club has gone on a poor run, winning just one of their last eight games in the Premier League. Potter has had an underwhelming start to his Chelsea career after he replaced Champions League winning manager Thomas Tuchel, with an irgent appeal to fans to trust the process seeming to go in vain as his Chelsea boat sinks in a sea of misery and injuries. The big question posed by fans looks to be is Graham Potter good enough or is the poor lad just unlucky? Potters Chelsea have a large number of first team players out injured with 10 of the notable first team players missing a huge number of games plunging Graham's Potter time at Chelsea thus far into misery. But all this is part of the change management that was expected with the new management. Out with the old guard Roman Abramoich and his no-nonsense technique which was largely appreciated by the Chelsea faithfuls with some being quoted saying Potter would be long gone if it was the Russian oligarch's tenure.

But the new management looks to be patient and we can only wait and see how this process goes for Chelsea, although part of this change management looks to be negatiely impacting the players and having a large number of injuries attributed to a change in the medical team. With the meical team issue at Chelsea needing to be addressed, club doctor Paco Biosca and head physio Thierry Laurent left the club as part of a cull by the new Boehly-Clearlake ownership. They believed Manchester City, Liverpool and even clubs such as Brighton had more progressive medical departments than Chelsea.

Days of Glory and joy look to have gone with the old guard. Chelsea currently sit among the mediocrities of midtable, 10th at the table, 10 points from the drop zone and 10 points from Champions League places. Where will Chelsea finish the season this season?
