Arsenal came from a goal down to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 10 October 2026, a result that put them level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Leeds on top for an hour

The game, which kicked off at 2:30 pm Kenyan time, did not start well for the home side. Leeds were the better team for most of the first hour. Arsenal managed only five shots in the first 55 minutes, and goalkeeper David Raya had to make four saves to keep the score level.

Leeds finally broke through in the 55th minute. Gabriel Gudmundsson sent in a low cross and James Justin finished it to put the visitors 1-0 up.

Two goals in eight minutes

Arsenal needed only seven minutes to respond. Riccardo Calafiori scored in the 62nd minute from inside the box after Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford could not keep out his effort.

Manager Mikel Arteta then made a triple substitution, and the changes helped turn the match. Pulse Sports called the second-half tactical adjustments decisive.

The winner came in the 70th minute. Substitute Bruno Guimaraes finished a passing move that Declan Rice helped along with a flick.

Late chances and standout players

Leeds nearly rescued a point. Trafford had already denied Martin Odegaard late on, and in stoppage time Bukayo Saka was left one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Trafford saved again with the final kick of the game.

Noni Madueke made a difference on the left wing. He created three chances and completed five of his six crosses, the only Arsenal player to complete any. Raya's early saves also kept Arsenal in the contest until the comeback began.

What the managers said

Arteta admitted his team had been far from their best early on. "We didn't capitalise on the spaces, the situation, the overloads that we had to attack the goal and the box," he said.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke was left to reflect on a harsh result. "Heartbroken and gutted for my players because they deserved to travel back with points today," he said.

What it means

Arsenal bounced back from a 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break and are now level on points with Manchester City. City play Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday 11 October 2026, so the table may look different by the end of the weekend.

For Leeds, it was a first Premier League defeat of the season, and one they will feel they did not deserve after such a strong first hour.
